Crypto wallet sanctions screening APIs that accept x402, compared

Updated 2026-10-21

A wallet sanctions screening API checks a crypto address against lists such as the US Treasury’s OFAC SDN list, so an app or AI agent can stop before it pays a sanctioned party. The APIs below charge per check in USDC via x402, so an agent can screen a payee in the same flow it uses to pay, with no account or API key.

This is a comparison of what each provider says it does, plus the payment terms we verified. Screening results are informational and are not legal advice; your own compliance obligations depend on where and how you operate.

Compared: price, networks and verification date

Prices are per call, taken from each provider’s 402 terms or listing on the date shown. Most of these services offer several routes (single address, batch, deeper tracing), so the range covers all of them.

  • OceanAlt: Built for the moment before an agent pays: sanctions and AML screening of the payee, batch screening of up to 25 addresses, and fund tracing.
  • ChainAnalyzer: Multi-chain AML intelligence across 12 chains, covering sanctions, laundering, rug pull and drainer risk for wallets, tokens and stablecoins.
  • AurelianFlo: OFAC wallet screening and batch sanctions checks, plus EDD memos and audit-ready documents.
  • LION Verified Company Data: OFAC wallet screening and multi-list sanctions checks alongside verified company data.
  • x402check: Pre-payment risk checks for x402 agents: OFAC SDN screening plus phishing and drainer feeds.
  • nsgoods: A suite of x402 APIs that includes OFAC sanctions and malicious-address screening.

Our own: PayGuard (disclosed)

We run PayGuard, which screens one address against the addresses on the OFAC SDN list for $0.001 USDC per call on Base, with a free preview and an MCP tool. It is listed on our Built by us page, not ranked with the tools above. Setup: OFAC sanctions check API guide.

How to choose

  • Lists covered. Some services check only OFAC SDN addresses; others add other sanctions lists, hack and scam lists or mixer exposure. Pick the coverage you actually need.
  • Single vs batch. If your agent pays many addresses, a batch route is usually cheaper per address.
  • Tracing. Address screening checks the address itself. Fund tracing follows money upstream, costs more, and is worth it for larger payments.
  • Network fit. Make sure the API accepts payment on a network your agent holds USDC on.

Where this fits in an agent’s payment flow

  1. The agent gets a 402 reply with a payTo address.
  2. It screens that address with one of the APIs above (itself a paid x402 call).
  3. It pays only if the result is clean and the price is under its limit.
