x402 API prices: what AI agents pay per call

Prices checked 2026-10-23 with our own unpaid 402 probes

Most x402 APIs charge between a tenth of a cent and five cents per call. The median starting price across 275 APIs we probed is $0.005. Each figure comes from an unpaid request to the API’s paid endpoint. The server answered HTTP 402 with its x402 payment terms, and we read the USDC amount from them. No payment was made, and no third-party catalog or usage data is used.

The highest prices are usually not single data calls. They are bundles, prepaid token packs, browser sessions or audits, so check what one call buys before comparing.

Networks

121 of the 275 priced APIs accept USDC on more than one network. How many accept each of the four networks we track:

How we measured

  • For each x402 listing we sent an unpaid request to its paid endpoint. A server that charges answers HTTP 402 with its payment terms (in x402 v2, a base64 JSON PAYMENT-REQUIRED header). We took the exact-scheme USDC amount, on Base where offered, and converted it from 6-decimal units to dollars.
  • Many APIs price routes differently. When we probed more than one route, the listing shows a range (164 APIs here), and this page uses the lowest value. Other routes may cost more.
  • Listings whose probe failed, or that don’t charge per call in USDC, are left out. 1 API returned a 402 asking for 0 USDC and is also left out.
  • Prices change. Each listing page shows its own probe date and source, and the full data is in listings.json (CC BY 4.0, cite YourAITools).
